Fly me from... Zambia to Madagascar
From Zambia to Madagascar, this voyage traces a wild diagonal where nature reigns unfiltered. It begins deep in the Zambian bush, Luangwa, Zambezi, Busanga… Scenes unfold in slow crescendo: an elephant crossing the clearing as you watch from your deckchair, leopards hidden in the grass, flocks of birds lifting at dawn. Then comes softness, the Indian Ocean calls. Sainte-Marie first, then Tsara Komba. Lemurs at daybreak, deserted beaches, the scent of ylang-ylang, forests plunging into the sea. Each camp stands as a lookout, each stop an immersion. This is more than a safari, it’s another way of inhabiting the world.
Between tropical island and untamed lands, a journey in full amplitude
Here, you travel the way you breathe. The land shifts with every horizon, golden savannahs, misty rivers, dense jungles, deep blue seas. In Zambia, elephants and lions cross the open plains in morning light. In Madagascar, ylang-ylang forests open onto pale coves and coral reefs alive with color. The scent of hot soil blends with ocean salt, the roar of a lion with the cry of a lemur. Water, earth, salt, and warmth, all speak the same tongue. Between Zambia and Madagascar, nature moves freely, endlessly, like a deep, ancient breath.
Each landscape beats like a heart, each horizon whispers a promise.
We love the Zambia and Madagascar for…

At dawn, the Luangwa plains glow gold. You head out by 4×4, engine low, watching lions, giraffes, and herds of elephants move through the dust. Every turn reveals another living scene, raw and still.

By canoe or boat, you drift with the river. Hippos surface, egrets scatter, crocodiles nap in the sun. The world floats at water level.

Tables set on the sand, lanterns swaying in the breeze, laughter carried by the water. Luxury here is the time you let drift away between sips of white wine and the sound of the tide returning.

A helicopter flight where the world seems to vanish. The water plunges with the force of myth, and the sky becomes waterfall.

Around Nosy Be or Tsara Komba, the sea turns glass-clear. The turtles glide slowly, unbothered by time. You float between sky and sea.
Weisse’s selection
Here, Chinzombo erases the walls. Six light-filled villas hidden among acacias, suspended between contemporary design and primal bush. Barefoot, you drift from your private pool to an open-air lounge facing the savannah, from a sky massage to the shadow of an elephant on the horizon. Walk or river safaris fill the days. No crowds, just a guide, fresh tracks and the pulse of the wild. Children follow their own trail: footprint workshops, birdwatching, learning the Zambian constellations. And for those who wish to touch local culture, head to Mfuwe, a place of weavers, storytellers and that distinct Zambian way of living close to the living world.
In the shade of a mahogany tree, the river stretches slowly. Days unfold to the rhythm of the water, dawn canoe rides through the mist, tiger-fish catches, sunset cruises. You glimpse leopards crouched in the grass, swimming elephants, lions along the banks. The tent opens to tall grasses and the hum of hippos. Anabezi balances absolute comfort with reverence for the wild.
The last bend. The Zambezi slows, then runs free again. At Royal Chundu, life unfolds by the river, sunset canoe rides, picnics on private islands, candlelit dinners. There’s a stilted spa, a medicinal garden, and encounters with local artisans. The journey ends with a cruise to Victoria Falls, spectacular and untamed, seen from above by helicopter. The sound of water becomes an inner rhythm. Promise kept.
On Sainte-Marie Island, Voaara redefines luxury the slow-life way. Eight boho-chic cottages with thatched roofs rest lightly between lush forest and untouched beach. Conceived by Swedish hotelier Philippe Kjellgren, this retreat blends agroecology, authentic encounters and holistic well-being. Local cuisine with your feet in the sand, flower massages, yoga in the gardens, an elegant, conscious immersion far from any cliché.
High on the green slopes of Nosy Komba, Tsara Komba blends effortlessly into the land. A few open-air lodges facing the canopy, a garden that drifts toward the sea, and the island light doing all the work. You dive with turtles, explore coral reefs around Nosy Be, follow red-earth trails through Lokobe National Park. Chameleons under leaves, lemurs between baobabs. On the way back, a village stop, a massage under open skies, sea whispering nearby. Dinner is grilled lobster, garden vegetables, starlit silence. No folklore, no postcard effect. Just an island, and all it gives.

The story
“Rivers filled with hippos, red tracks after rain, a sky so wide it swallows silence. At dawn, you walk the bush, the smell of wet grass in the air. At noon, you drift downriver by canoe, eyes level with the water. At night, dinner under the stars, a fire, a glass of wine, the call of hyenas in the dark. If you’re looking for vastness, for nights without power and the raw truth of the world, you’re in the right place.”
